Fujitsu air conditioning splits have proved their adaptability at Just
Fitness in Dundee where the units have been incorporated within a
building management system (BMS). Supplied by High Cool Limited, the
contractor Neutrochem has installed a series of heat pump ceiling
cassettes ranging in output from 4kW to 14.1kW (cooling) and 4.35kW
to 15.8kW (heating).
Just Fitness provides the full range of exercise equipment and
programmes within a modern centre comprising fitness suites, aerobic
studios, changing rooms, and offices. The internal environments of
such service industries are particularly important, every part of
the centre from reception, through the exercise suites and studios
and culminating in the changing rooms must at all times offer a high
standard of comfort, in which temperature plays an important role.
The Fujitsu heat pump cassettes specified by Neutrochem provide
heating and cooling throughout the new building, though the cooling
load is particularly prevalent due to its usage. By interfacing the
splits with a BMS, time switching and temperature control easily
match occupancy demand.
A requirement of the installation was the ability for many of the
cassettes to be installed in areas offering restricted access due
to the positioning of other services. Fujitsu's 'Slender Fit'
cassette was the answer. The Slender Fit mechanism allows the cassette
body to be adjusted relative to the grille, reducing the height of the
unit by 35mm. As a result, the already slim smaller cassette bodies
can be reduced to only 200mm in height, with the larger cassettes
achieving a narrow 250mm.
Other features of the ceiling cassettes include in-built computer
controlled dehumidification system, automatic changeover from cooling
to heating to match pre-programmed settings and room temperature, and
energy save routine that automatically raises and lowers the set
temperature to achieve maximum energy conservation whilst maintaining
occupancy comfort.
